Street Art: Phare de la Coubre

We found this understated little masterpiece outside the Phare de la Coubre, a working lighthouse in the Charentes-Maritimes region, just at the the mouth of the Gironde Estuary.

The lighthouse itself is fairly modern (by lighthouse standards), having been built in 1904. It overlooks the Plage de la Bouverie, which we had all to ourselves in early March, despite what looked to our untrained eyes like pretty decent surf. Then again, we weren't at the nudist (naturisme) beach farther north, so maybe everyone was there.

As ever, Sugar found a friend. Plage de la Bouverie, Charentes-Maritimes.

La Phare de la Coubre.
